The OCNLR Level 1 Certificate in Hospitality Skills is designed for anyone taking their first steps into the UK hospitality industry. Regulated by Ofqual and sitting on the Regulated Qualifications Framework, it gives learners the knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours needed for front-line, guest-facing roles — from waiter and bar support to kitchen assistant, hotel team member and receptionist. Delivered through a combination of classroom learning and a short work placement, it provides a solid foundation for progression to Level 2 hospitality qualifications and apprenticeships. The qualification is suitable for school and college learners on vocational programmes, those on supported internships or traineeships, and adults returning to work.
Registration includes the UKHospitality Skills Passport — meaning learners who complete this qualification will (after completing the necessary mandatory Health & Safety training) gain the UKHospitality Skills Passport alongside their certificate – and for those who prefer a different route, the Skills Passport is also achievable through alternative delivery models; visit our Hospitality Skills Passport page to find out more.
