15th April 2024 – Important notice for all approved centres
Ofqual have recently published a notice to Awarding Organisations on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a sole marker.
Ofqual defines AI as adaptive systems that can learn and make decisions without human control. The use of AI as the sole marker of students’ work is not permitted under Ofqual’s rules.
Our qualifications team are currently considering this information and will work closely with approved Centres to ensure that assessments continue to be accurate and consistent. We expect further Ofqual comment and guidance with regard to this, in that they state they will keep the role of AI as a sole marker under review and provide further details on the regulatory approach in due course.
