OCN London announce innovative new partnership with Digital Twin Skills Academy
Thursday 14th December 2023OCN London are pleased to announce an exciting and innovative new partnership with Digital Twin Skills Academy, as part of our joint commitment to supporting and advancing the construction and digital skills sector.
Digital Twin Skills Academy CIC is a black-owned business, led by founder and Chief Excitement Officer, Dr Bola Abisogun OBE, who used inspiration from his 30 years of industry experience to approach this work from a social value perspective. The DTSA is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and actively works with other initiatives that are designed to create unencumbered access to meaningful career opportunities for young people, whatever their background.
Our CEO, Carlos Cubillo-Barsi met with Dr Abisogun at OCN London HQ this week, to cement the close partnership and discuss the opportunities presented by working, with a concentrated focus on the construction sector and the industries digital skills needs, utilising Building Information Modelling (BIM) enabled workflows.
A collaborative approach to engagement with these sectors along with responsive and contemporary thought leadership content, will help to create meaningful change.
Carlos said
We are looking forward to working in close partnership with Dr. Abisogun and his team, with a principal goal to enhance and enrich the fantastic work that they are already doing.
The digitalisation of the construction industry spans across several areas, including digital tools, process automation, and digital project management. Copious amounts of data from construction operations are now being organised and structured using cloud computing, thanks to the expanding usage of digital technology and there is a clear demand for individuals to have a specific set of skills and knowledge. As an awarding organisation, we must ruthlessly collaborate with organisations like DTSA, to ensure that these needs are met. This is why I am so excited to bring this partnership to life; the impact on businesses, individuals and communities will be extremely valuable, which will benefit the sector, the UK, and global communities.
During his visit to our London offices, Dr Abisogun spoke of his joy at the collaboration with us and his hopes for the partnership, he said,
The DTSA is an emerging EdTech vehicle for ‘positive’ social change and everything we do is founded in promoting greater equity, diversity, and inclusion, for all. The construction sector, in a post-Grenfell, Building Safety Act environ [effective 1st October 2023] has, with a targeted focus on legacy assets, been mandated to deliver a new legal requirement called the ‘Golden Thread of Information Management’. In my world the ‘golden thread’ requires a better understanding and appreciation, leading to a greater deployment of digital twins; as we seek to deliver value-based outcomes, for a Net Zero world. Delivered to wider society with an unapologetic focus on 16-25yr right through to the 50+ cohort, our over-arching ambition is to democratise our domain knowledge and technical expertise, equipping all stakeholders with the requisite awareness and necessary industry insight. Our modus-operandi demands that we offer an accredited suite of ‘accessible and affordable’ learning modules, which can be successfully attained, by customers across the world. That OCN London have comfortably, presented themselves as both an ‘early adopter’ and thought leader in ‘alternative’ learning provision, has afforded the DTSA an opportunity to immediately service an identified need, through an international platform. I remain personally indebted to Carlos and OCN London and look forward to serving alongside their amazing team, commencing January 2024.
