OCN London’s innovative learning and development partnership with RCN Activism Academy strengthened

Tuesday 6th August 2024

We are delighted to announce the evolution of our strategic education and quality assurance partnership with the Royal College of Nursing Activism Academy (RCN), by revitalising our longstanding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement.

Professional Development Opportunities

The partnership aims to elevate continuous professional development and training standards across the UK by building upon our enduring collaborative work on the UK L&D Pathway for RCN Representatives. This new agreement will also increase the breadth of the relationship to include all RCN Activist learning and development programmes across the UK.

Through a range of CPD courses, representatives will have opportunities to update their skills and knowledge, specialise in new areas of practice, and advance their careers.

This focus on lifelong learning is essential to the shared objectives and purpose of both organisations and is critical to maintaining a competent and adaptable workforce within the sector.

A Shared Vision for the Future

Our CEO, Carlos Cubillo-Barsi, visited RCN’s HQ at Cavendish Square, London, on 16th July 2024, to herald this exciting new era and to sign the new MoU alongside Karen Carberry, Head of Activist Learning and Development at the RCN.

Karen said;

We are proud of our longstanding relationship with OCN and the constructive support they provide. It has enabled us to develop and deliver consistent, high-quality learning for all RCN reps. It’s very important to us in the Activism Academy and the RCN as whole that we deliver the skills and knowledge our activists need to advocate and campaign for the changes that matter to the nursing profession. OCN’s expertise in the field of trade union learning is well-established and we value the scrutiny they can bring to our learning offer for all active RCN members.

Carlos added;

We are thrilled to announce the update of our partnership terms with the Royal College of Nursing, a collaboration that underscores our commitment to advancing the education and continuous development of nursing activists. The renewal of our long-standing relationship with RCN, means that, together, we can really raise the bar when it comes to quality standards and be truly innovative when it comes to learning and development design and delivery.

Together, we will ensure pioneering, top-quality learning and progression opportunities, to support the nursing activist community as they take action together to bring about positive change for nursing.

Looking Ahead

As the partnership between OCN London and the Royal College of Nursing evolves and progresses, both organisations are poised to make a lasting impact on nursing activism and advocacy in the sector via meaningful learning and development pathways.
