OCN London to Provide Accreditation for Prison Education and Training in Textiles
Thursday 15th May 2025OCN London is pleased to confirm that we have been awarded a new contract by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to provide accreditation for textiles skills training delivered within prisons across England, as part of MoJ’s new Prisoner Education Service.
Textiles production is an important part of prisoner education and training, offering meaningful work opportunities to support rehabilitation and future employability. Under this new contract, OCN London will be responsible for accrediting Industrial Textiles Skills qualifications, ensuring that the skills and knowledge gained by learners through their work are formally recognised.
As an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation, we will provide independent, quality-assured accreditation that vouches for the technical skills, understanding and job-readiness of participating learners. Our role is to work in partnership with education and training providers across the prison estate to accredit and certificate practical, employment-focused skills; whilst also recognising valuable knowledge and understanding gained by individuals as they move forward.
With over 30 years’ experience supporting offender learning and skills development, OCN London remains committed to widening participation and supporting positive pathways to employment and resettlement.
The contract is due to commence in October 2025.
