OCN London were recently invited to speak at this year’s prestigious SkillsFest 2023, which is a global online skills event organised and facilitated by the UK Skills Partnership in partnership with the Department for Business and Trade International Education team.

It is designed to showcase they very best in Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET) on offer in the UK to overseas organisations. The event was attended by Government ministries, non-Government organisations, aid agencies, public and private skills and education organisations, skills bodies, employers, trade bodies from all over the world, to see the latest TVET innovation and methodology being practised and delivered by UK based providers and education specialists.

In order to promote more environmentally mindful behaviours, it was a completely online event, which ran from 10th -14th July and involved a wide variety of TVET professionals sharing thoughts, opinions and expertise with a global audience.

OCN London were represented by our Head of Partnerships and Engagement, Amarjit Dhanjal, who is responsible for developing new business relationships as well as overseeing large projects with our partner organisations.

Amarjit has worked in Further and Higher Education since 2004, in a variety of roles, so he brings a wealth of experience along with a holistic approach to partner and stakeholder engagement. He greatly enjoys applying his expertise to support a range of education requirements and facilitate impactful learning experiences on a large scale. After he delivered his session, he said;

“I was honoured to be invited to take part in SkillsFest and to speak about microcredentials and the development of stand-alone courses built to satisfy specific student or employer needs, to a global audience. Inclusive learning is critical because it provides everyone with the confidence and ability to fully engage and contribute in social, cultural, and academic settings. Alongside that, it was great to talk about ESOL International and how rewarding and fruitful it can be for learners, especially for those looking to travel and work in different countries”.

If you would like more information about micro-credentials or ESOL International, please get in touch at enquiries@ocnlondon.org.uk.
