QAA approved subject descriptor for Nursing and Health Professions
The Access to HE Diploma (Health and Human Sciences) has been designed to meet the requirements of the QAA subject descriptor for Nursing and Health Professions, offering learners progressing onto Nursing, a subject descriptor compliant pathway which meets the essential and recommended requirements of the subject descriptor.
The purpose of the subject descriptor is to serve as a guide and reference point for the design, delivery, validation, and review of Access to HE Diplomas aimed at progressing learners to higher-level studies in health professions, including those regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and all fields of nursing.
The aim is to give clarity to prospective learners and their advisers about minimum Diploma requirements, by supporting informed decision-making and ensuring that learners meet entry standards for nursing and health professions. It also provides reassurance to higher education admissions staff that all learners completing a compliant Diploma have covered a consistent minimum level of subject content.
Full details of the subject descriptor compliant pathway can be found in the Diploma specification.
For further information on the subject descriptor, please read  QAA Access to Higher Education Diploma Subject Descriptor for Nursing and Health Professions.
